Commissioned by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster and first performed at a service on 10th July 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the Royal Air Force by the Choir of Westminster Abbey with Peter Holder (organ), conducted by James O’Donnell.

This work for mixed voices and organ setting text from the First Epistle of St John and Psalm 107 was commissioned by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for a Service to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, held in Westminster Abbey on 11th November 2018, and first performed by the Choir of Westminster Abbey with Peter Holder (organ) conducted by James O'Donnell.

Paul Mealor: De Profundis

Inspired by his life-long interest in chant and choral music, Paul Mealor?s De profundis pushes the boundaries of the human voice in a style synonymous with Russian orthodox music.In spring 2012 this piece sparked the 'Bass Hunter' competition - a world-wide talent search for the lowest human voice in existence. The note, an ?E? (329 Hertz), is six notes below the lowest note ever written for a choral piece (from Rachmanivov?s ?Vespers? ? a B flat), and a whole tone lower than the Guinness World Record-holder - a sung ?F sharp?. The piece has since been recorded featuring the winner of the competition, Tim Storms (Decca 3709935).

In the midst of thy temple

This six-minute anthem by Matthew Martin was commissioned by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster for a service held on 15th October 2019 to mark the 750th anniversary of the dedication of the Abbey Church of Henry III and firstperformed by the Choir of Westminster Abbey conducted by James O’Donnell with Peter Holder (organ). The piece sets Latin and English text the Angularis fundamentum (Christ is the sure foundation) (Anon 7th century), translatedby. John Mason Neale (1818 1866) / Joseph Armitage Robinson (1858 1933), Dean of Westminster 1902 11. The work is scored for mixed choir with divisi, and the organ part is typical of Martin’s inimitable style.
