T-Bone Concerto (Complete Edition)

The T-Bone Concerto was Johan de Meij's first composition for solo instrument and symphonic band. It consists of three movements called respectively 'Rare', 'Medium' and 'Well Done'. In addition to the solo trombone, an important role has been allotted to a kind of chamber music ensemble within the band. This group introduces new thematic material and accompanies the soloist, thus creating a delightful transparant accompaniment. The ensemble consists of a double wind quintet (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 french horns and 2 bassoons) plus a cor anglais and a double bass. Parts I and II are written in the A-B-A form and allow the soloist to display both the technical and thelyrical characteristics of the instrument. Part III at first develops into a kind of neo-baroque style using the thematic material of the first and second movement, and finally leads to a triumphant finale and a virtuoso conclusion.

Lux Futura

Lux Futura

Lux Futura (Light of the Future) was commissioned by the Royal Wind Orchestra Delft and is inspired by the letters ‘D-E-L-F-T’ using the letter notation system by Béla Bartók. In this ‘Delft’ cell, there is referral to the ‘Trinitas’, the bourdon bell of the Old Church in Delft, that only tolls during a funeral of a member of the Dutch Royal Family. The Delft melody switches to the ‘Agneta March’, which is a reference to the history of the Royal Wind Orchestra Delft. Further on the love theme, played by the bass instruments represents the love of the inhabitants for their city throughout space and time. In the middle movement, the beauty of the city is depicted by the coranglais (English horn) solo, as an ode to the lovely city of Delft. When performed, one can choose to use sound city samples recorded in Delft to create a truly magnificent spectacle. Spartacus

Spartacus

Spartacus is a "Symphonic Tone Poem" with 3 joints. Each section has its own melodical materials, however: in the final movement the main theme from the second section returns in a 'grandioso'-tutti. The last bar but one recaptures the 'oriental' atmosphere of the very beginning. The first section (= from the beginning till J) builds up a climax by repeating and accumulating some melodical and rhythmical stuctures. The oriental character of the melodical fragments refers to the origin of the Roman slaves. The second section evokes the love between Spartacus and his loveby giving a peaceful atmosphere. The mean theme (presented the first time at letter L) has a broad andwide character and refers slightly to filmmusic. In this part of the composition, a special attention is given to the orchestration. The final section is more agressive and martial and refers to the revolt of the slaves against the Roman oppressors. In the middle of this movement, an accumulation of the 12 tones symbolizes the crucifixion of the slaves: the english horn resumes partly the cadenza of the flute (at letter J), as if he wants to show again the eternal love between Spartacus and his love a very last time ... The theme at the third bar of letter T is actually based on the 2nd theme of this section (which starts at the fifth bar of letter R), but has been worked out rhytmically.

Jet har återigen slagit ut parken med den elektriska gitarren JT-350 i t-stil, här presenterad i Butterscotch med SS Alnico Pickups. Med en klassisk 50-talslook är den här gitarren fenomenalt väl specificerad för priset. Som med alla Jet-gitarrer har den en silkeslen Roasted Maple-hals fastskruvad i en basträkropp. JT350 har dessutom uppgraderats med Alnico magnetpickuper, låsande tuningmaskiner och en plattlös halsskarv, funktioner som vanligtvis ses på gitarrer som kostar betydligt mer. Benmuttern tar ut varje vibration ur strängarna, medan 3 Chrome Sadel Bridge resulterar i autentisk ton. Med en lätt och resonant Basswood-kropp, i kombination med en Roasted Canadian Maple-hals/greppbräda, får Jet JT-350 en mycket bra start. Den här gitarren har verkligen ett utseende att dö för, med en rik glansig finish som visar upp Butterscotch-kroppen och den rostade halsen till full effekt. Räfflade platta knoppar ger den en vintage-look som kompletterar den karamellfärgade nyansen i halsen och det klassiska svarta valskyddet. När det gäller spelergonomi är JT-350 omedelbart bekväm för den moderna gitarristen, med en modern "C"-formad halsprofil och greppbräda med en radie på 9,5 tum. Jet har gått till extra längder för att förbättra spelkomforten, med en extra kontur lagt till underkroppens cutaway för att underlätta rörelsen i övre bandet, samt en plåtlös halshäl. Hårdvarumässigt är låstunrarna en fantastisk funktion till priset, medan en fast brygga med tre kromade sadlar ger autentisk teleton och känsla. Benmuttern ser till att alla vibrationer från strängarna överförs till de två Alnico single-coil pickuperna. Dessa styrs via volym/tonknappar och 3-vägs switchlayout. Jet JT-350 i Butterscotch överträffar betydligt sin prisklass när det gäller funktioner och specifikationer. Det kommer också att tilltala erfarna gitarrister och "tweakers" som letar efter ett instrument att mixtra med och modifiera till mycket låg kostnad. En vinnare överallt.
