The central figure in this work is Marianella Garçia Villas (1948-1983). This Salvadorean woman fought for human rights in her country. As a barrister for political prisoners she belonged to the opponents of the regime in El Salvador. She escaped death several times, but eventually her activities cost her her life. The story of Marianella Garçia Villas is very important in the struggle for human rights in South America with many people followed her example. Dirk Brossé ends this symphonic poem with a Coda in which hope for improvements in human rights triumph.

Works For Male Choir - Equal Voices : Volume 2

With only one exception, Gade composed his works for male choir with accompaniment for Danish choral societies, numerous of which had been founded across the country since 1839. These societies were often closely connected with professional associations, making them equally important for musical and social matters.This volume contains five occasional works for male choir with accompaniment that were composed between around 1838 and 1883. Three of them were intended for church usage (two funerals and one wedding).Among the works for equal voices and accompaniment in this volume, “Aarstidsbilleder” op. 51 is the longest. It was composed for the women of The MusicSociety in Copenhagen and conducted by Gade himself during the 1871/72 seasons.The appendix contains works that were completed, but do not allow for definitive decisions regarding their final presentation.

“The Clown” is a three-movement suite for Bb Cornet Solo with Concert Band. The three short movements challenges both the soloist and band technically as well as musically. It was written in 1968 as the composers exam in instrumentation.

Works For Mixed Choir and Orchestra

This volume of “Œuvres complètes de Gabriel Fauré” contains Fauré’s four secular choral works in their orchestral arrangements, namely “Les Djinns”, “La Naissance de Vénus”, “Madrigal”, and “Pavane”. These works were composed between 1876 and 1887; thereafter Fauré wrote choral compositions based only on sacred texts. The first three works are presented here for the first time in a full score edition, previously having been published only in their versions with piano accompaniment. This edition is therefore the first to present the works with an authoritative musical text based on the careful study of the sources.“Les Djinns” (1876-76) for mixed choir and orchestrais based on the famous poem by Victor Hugo first published in the collection “Les Orientales”, while “La Naissance de Vénus” (1882) for soloists, choir and orchestra is based on a text by Paul Collin. “Madrigal”, the orchestral version of which cannot be dated with certainty (around 1891, for a quartet of soloists or choir) has been composed after a poem by Armand Silvestre, and the famous “Pavane”, originally composed for orchestra and only later supplemented with a text by Symbolist poet Robert de Montesquiou, is presented here in an elegant, graceful version with female choir.

In addition to being one of the greatest film composers of all time, John Williams has enjoyed a special relationship with The President's Own U.S. Marine Band. In honor of the band's 215th anniversary, Mr. Williams composed awork specifically for this storied ensemble. Concerto for Trumpet No. 1: Trumpet Town : for Solo Bb Trumpet & Orchestra

Composer Otto M. Schwarz completed his first Concerto for trumpet in October 2009. Schwarz displays a special knack in writing for this instrument, thanks to his trumpet studies undertaken with Professor Josef Pomberger at the Music Conservatory in Vienna. Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 ‚Trumpet Town’ was commissioned by the police-orchestra of Upper Austria, under the baton of Andreas Schwarzenlander. The work was premiered on 17 November 2009. The soloist for the evening was trumpeter Franz Wagnermeyer, who also studied at the Vienna Conservatory and who currently performs with, amongst others, the international group “Ten of the Best”. A rapid flourish in 12/8 time opens Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 ‘Trumpet Town’. The metric changes that follow affect the pulse rhythmically and melodically, in exciting and unexpected ways. The solo trumpet’s displays of technical prowess and bravura alternate with the film-score-like tutti sections of the brass ensemble. The slow, almost elegiac, central section can be performed on the flugel horn, while the closing reprise demands that both the soloist and the orchestra give of their best as the piece comes to an exciting, colourful, and uplifting finale. This piece is also available for trumpet and piano.

Sinfonietta no. 1 : for wind orchestra

Sinfonietta No. 1 was originally written for brass band, commissioned by the Dutch National Championships 2011 in Groningen. It also served as the test piece for the Swiss National Championships 2011 in Montreux, Switzerland. In 2012, Johan de Meij created this version for wind orchestra.Unlike most of Johan de Meij's compositions, Sinfonietta No. 1 is an abstract, non-programmatic work. It consists of three movements, in which the thematic material of the opening measures - an upward fifth jump - returns in various shapes and forms throughout the piece. The slow middle section features solo passages by cello, English horn and bassoon, all starting with thesame fifth jump. The final movement presents an Elgar-like march theme, interspersed with quotes from the second movement, and ending with the opening theme of movement I.
