This medley by Gilbert Tinner contains Aretha Franklin’s most famous hits: ‘Respect', '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman', 'Son of a Preacher Man' and of course ‘Think’, one of the greatest up-tempo tracks of all time.

T-Bone Concerto, Part I - Rare

The T-Bone Concerto was Johan de Meij's first composition for solo instrument and symphonic band. It consists of three movements called respectively 'Rare', 'Medium' and 'Well Done'. In addition to the solo trombone, an important role has been allotted to a kind of chamber music ensemble within the band. This group introduces new thematic material and accompanies the soloist, thus creating a delightful transparant accompaniment. The ensemble consists of a double wind quintet (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 french horns and 2 bassoons) plus a cor anglais and a double bass. Part I is written in the A-B-A form and allow the soloist to display both the technical and the lyricalcharacteristics of the instrument.

I chose to adopt this title for my orchestral work, because of its closeness in associations: an indeterminable, often polarized, state of rhythmic and tonal ambiguity.The expression seems created by the Franch author, Victor Hugo:"And here lies the fascination: in the kinds of "terrains vagues", which are simultaniously bizarre and ugly, as if created by two alien species of nature. To watch the suburb is like observing and amphibium: trees vanish, roofs appear, grass vanish, cobble stones appear, ploughing fields vanish, shops appear, beaten tracks vanish - passions appear; the murmur of Nature Divine ends, the noise of Mankind takes over." Carsten Dahl is known for his work as jazz oriented pianist, but he is a musician and composer that moves unimpeded from the bebop tradition via completely free improvisation to classical music.

Celebration Overture (Revised edition)

Commissioned by Edwin Frank Goldman for the American Bandmasters Association, Paul Creston's Celebration Overture was premiered at the 1955 ABA convention. His third work for symphonic band, it is a standard of concert bandrepertoire and is included on several state contest lists. This 2016 edition (edited by John T.
