Battle Chef Brigade is an arcade action game with elements of logic puzzles, about cooking "duels for dishes" in a fantasy world. The production is led by a small developer Trinket Studios, previously responsible for mobile Orion's Forge and Color Sheep.
Story
In the magical world of Battle Chef Brigade, your power is measured in only one way - your ability to prepare sublime dishes that will delight everyone around you. At the beginning of the adventure, we choose one of the four characters whose goal is the final victory in the great cooking tournament. Each hero has a different approach to cooking and obtaining the best ingredients, e.g. the orc berserker Thrash specializes in using fire and has a weakness for grilled ribs, while the rogue Mina uses air magic and prefers to prepare dishes from bird eggs. However, in order to win a seat in the most famous tournament that takes place in the capital, the player will have to earn a proper reputation. He must win the hearts of the jury in subsequent cooking duels, preparing dishes better than the opponent.
Gameplay
The heart of the game is the aforementioned chef duels, somewhat reminiscent of the diagram of the episode of the popular TV show Iron Chef. At the very beginning, a panel of judges is presented and the main element of the challenge - a specific ingredient that must be included in the dish. The host sets a time limit and starts the countdown, but instead of a full pantry, players only find the door open. The cooks have to take care of the freshness of products, picking vegetables themselves and tracking and killing the game they are interested in. The element of acquiring ingredients resembles an old school 2D brawler. The world is divided into biomes that are inhabited by specific fauna and flora. The cook has a number of attacks with his unique weapon (including two chef's knives or a huge cleaver) and special skills specific to his school of magic. While killing smaller creatures is quite simple, bigger beasts are a big challenge, but they also have better quality meat. Moreover, the world has its own ecosystem that influences the ingredients it collects. If, for example, we cut down a plant - a fly trap, then the chicken will appear quickly for a free meal. A fully fed bird can lay an egg that we would not get if we killed it right away. If, on the other hand, we weaken the same hen with attacks and lead it to the fly trap, it will brazenly devour our poultry companion and grow a pair of insect wings (delicious in taste).
