Earthlock: Festival of Magic for PC, Switch, etc. is a representative of cRPG games with a turn-based combat system, which, compared to numerous competition, is distinguished by colorful graphics and a semi-fairy-tale atmosphere. The independent Norwegian studio Snowcastle Games is responsible for the creation and release of this production. Story Action Earthlock Festival of Magic takes place in a fairy-tale fantasy world, located on a planet called Umbra. One day, for an unknown reason, its rotation was stopped, which resulted in a cataclysm that led to the transformation of the entire globe and the collapse of civilization. The disaster made much of Umbra's surface uninhabitable. One half of the globe is constantly scorched by the sun's rays, while the other half is plunged into eternal darkness. The surviving humanity is but a shadow of its former power and inhabits the patch of land between the two worlds. Nevertheless, the inhabitants continue their efforts to search for the ruins and extract from them signs of their former glory, which leads to the division of the population between lovers of forgotten technology and supporters of the magic arts. Gameplay The story told in Earthlock: Festival of Magic is enough for long hours of fun, and also, due to its non-linearity, allows you to play the game multiple times. Interestingly, soon after the adventure begins, the hero is joined by the young scout Ive - the game gives us the opportunity to switch freely between both heroes and decide who plays the main role in the story at a given moment. Traveling around Umbra takes place through a three-dimensional map of the world, viewed from a bird's eye view. The creators gave up random encounters on the trail - the opponents are clearly marked on the screen. At the moment of meeting the enemies, we are transferred to a separate board, shown in the side view. The battles take place in turns and use solutions proven in cRPG games. The developer also allowed himself to innovate in the form of pairing team members, consisting of warriors - using various offensive abilities - and protectors, i.e. mages using healing and protective magic. The key is to combine the skills of both characters and discover powerful combinations.
