This music offers many points of discussion for the young choir.

This short and, at first glance flippant, glance at divinity is really a thoughtful assertion that definitions and concepts of divinity fall short of the reality, which is beyond human understanding. And although for unison singers (with optional divisi), this is a challenge for any and all singers.

A gentle, lilting waltz for unison choir, treble solo and piano. The angel being addressed is reassured that he/she has done well in her attempt to find the Beloved. Written for the Anima Young Singers, Emily Ellsworth, conductor, this is a wonderful piece for melodic independence for a young choir.

On A Day When The Wind Is Perfect : From the cantata: Living the Divine

“On A Day When the Wind Is Perfect” is an uplifting affirmation of joy and beauty that the world affords every day to the eyes and heart that are opened to perceive and receive it. The poem and music describe the feeling of everything in life flowing with the ease of a boat propelled to glide effortlessly over the water by the wind that fills its sails. The work compares the human eyes and heart to the life giving sun, and the breeze that fills the sails of a boat to the inspiration that fills the soul, leading the body to ecstatic dancing and drumming. Finally, it compares the opening of the sails by the wind to the opening of the heart by love, which is always available atevery moment.

A Better Resurrection

Constructed primarily in homophonic form, this setting of the Rossetti poem results in a poignant plea for resurrected life and spirit. Composer Helvey has dedicated this anthem to Woodhaven, a not-for-profit organization that provides community-based supported living services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
