God Eater 3 is an action RPG in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere. The game was developed by the Japanese studio Shift, responsible for the previous instalments of the series, i.e. a team that also has such titles as Freedom Wars or Ape Academy 2. The action takes place many years after the events of the second part of the series. We are back in the distant future, in a time when humanity was brought to the brink of extinction due to the appearance of the beasts known as the Aragami. Ordinary armies turned out to be ineffective in the fight against this threat, so the task of defending the survivors was entrusted to the title Eaters of Deities, i.e. specialists wielding powerful God Arc weapons, which are the only effective tool in the fight against monsters. The player takes on the role of one of such warriors. As the story begins, something bad begins to happen to the Soul Eaters, and many of them come closer and closer to the dark side. God Eater 3 is a development of ideas from previous instalments of the series. So it is an action RPG in which we observe the events from a camera placed behind the protagonist's back. During the campaign, we mainly fulfill missions. Most of them require killing all Aragami in a given location. Often, there are additional goals or difficulties, such as a time limit. The gameplay focuses on combat. The production offers an extensive and highly arcade system: the player gets access to a rich arsenal and many types of attacks, and the battles take place at a very fast pace. Contrary to the previous games, this time the hero can use two weapons at the same time, holding each of them in one hand. Compared to previous games in the series, God Eater 3 offers much larger and more varied maps. The opponents also now have more diverse attacks and abilities, forcing the player to frequently change tactics. The game offers an extensive campaign that can be played alone or in cooperation via the Internet. The production was designed so that other players can join the game at any time and leave it freely, so we can, if we want, use their help only in the toughest missions, and go through the rest of the challenges solo. God Eater 3 is the first instalment of the series that was developed specifically for home platforms, not portable consoles. This resulted in much better graphics quality, larger maps and more opponents. Reception God Eater 3 for PC received generally positive reviews, with critics and fans praising anime-style action and customization options. The game was named a worthy successor of the series and had been a commercial and critical success.
