Systema Naturae 250 - The Linnaean Ark

Systema Naturae 250 - The Linnaean Ark

The advent of relational databasing and data storage capacity coupled with revolutionary advances in molecular sequencing technology and specimen imaging have led to a taxonomic renaissance. Systema Naturae 250 - The Linnaean Ark maps the origins of this renaissance beginning with Linnaeus through his apostles via the great unsung hero Charles Davies Sherbon — arguably the father of biodiversity informatics — up to the present day with the Planetary Biodiversity Inventories and into the future with the Encyclopedia of Life and web-based taxonomy. The book provides scientific historical and cultural documentation of the evolution of taxonomy and the successful adaptation of the Linnaean nomenclature system to that evolution. It underscores the importance of taxonomic accuracy not only for the classification of living organisms but for a more complete understanding of the living world and its biodiversity. The book also examines the role of technologies such as DNA sequencing specimen imaging and electronic data storage. A celebration of 250 years of the scientific naming of animals Systema Naturae 250 - The Linnaean Ark records and explores the history of zoological nomenclature and taxonomy detailing current and future activity in these fields. Descriptive taxonomy has been in decline despite the fact that the classification of organisms through taxonomic studies provides the foundation of our understanding of life forms. Packed with illustrations and tables this book establishes a vision for the future of descriptive taxonomy and marks the beginning of a period of rapid growth of taxonomic knowledge.

Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition XBOX One / Windows 10 CD Key

Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition XBOX One / Windows 10 CD Key

Halo Wars 2 is a continuation of the strategy game that was released in 2009 on the Xbox 360 console. The first part of the series is the responsibility of the now defunct Ensemble Studios, which previously became famous mainly for the Age of Empires series, although they also had Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. The two were produced by two teams - 343 Industries (the developer who took over the development of the Halo brand after Bungie) and the Creative Assembly team, i.e. the "fathers" of the Total War series. Halo Wars 2 for PC and XONE is a completely new chapter in the history of the universe, offering fast and exciting gameplay in which battles are fought on a large scale. Halo Wars 2 takes place in 2559 - 28 years after the events of the first part and soon after those known from Halo 5: Guardians. The crew of the Spirit of Fire warship is awakened from a cryogenic sleep without realizing how the war with the Covenants turned out. After receiving an alert from the surface of the Ark - a facility that produces Halo rings - the soldiers are attacked by aliens known as Banished, starting a whole new adventure. Halo Wars 2 for PC and XONE is RTS, a classic real-time strategy game. The gameplay is, of course, about performing various tasks and is based, among others, on building a base that is used to train soldiers and craft units. The fight takes place according to the rules known from the social game Paper, Rock, Scissors. Therefore, ground vehicles are effective against infantry, which is great for aviation, which in turn is perfect for engaging in clashes with ground vehicles. One of the elements distinguishing this from other strategies is the Blitz mode, which combines elements of a normal game of this type with a card game. While playing, we do not manage resources, buildings and units, but instead we use cards (we get them during the campaign and by completing daily challenges) that symbolize individual units or structures. Key features   RTS set in the popular Halo universe New story of the UNSC Spirit of fire crew Stunning visuals, especially well-made cutscenes Multiplayer with several interesting game modes
