Advanced Control Systems: Theory and Applications provides an overview of advanced research lines in control systems as well as in design development and implementation methodologies for perspective control systems and their components in different areas of industrial and special applications. It consists of extended versions of the selected papers presented at the XXV International Conference on Automatic Control “Automatics 2018” (September 18-19 2018 Lviv Ukraine) which is the main Ukrainian Control Conference organized by Ukrainian Association on Automatic Control (National member organization of IFAC) and Lviv National University “Lvivska Politechnica”. More than 100 papers were presented at the conference with topics including: mathematical problems of control optimization and game theory; control and identification under uncertainty; automated control of technical technological and biotechnical objects; controlling the aerospace craft marine vessels and other moving objects; intelligent control and information processing; mechatronics and robotics; information measuring technologies in automation; automation and IT training of personnel; the Internet of things and the latest technologies. The book is divided into two main parts the first concerning theory (7 chapters) and the second concerning applications (7 chapters) of advanced control systems. The first part “Advances in Theoretical Research on Automatic Control” consists of theoretical research results which deal with descriptor control impulsive delay systems motion control in condition of conflict inverse dynamic models invariant relations in optimal control robust adaptive control bio-inspired algorithms optimization of fuzzy control systems and extremal routing problem with constraints and complicated cost functions. The second part “Advances in Control Systems Applications” is based on the chapters which consider different aspects of practical implementation of advanced control systems in particular special cases in determining the spacecraft position and attitude using computer vision system the spacecraft orientation by information from a system of stellar sensors control synthesis of rotational and spatial spacecraft motion at approaching stage of docking intelligent algorithms for the automation of complex biotechnical objects an automatic control system for the slow pyrolysis of organic substances with variable composition simulation complex of hierarchical systems based on the foresight and cognitive modelling and advanced identification of impulse processes in cognitive maps. The chapters have been structured to provide an easy-to-follow introduction to the topics that are addressed including the most relevant references so that anyone interested in this field can get started in the area. Computational Techniques for Text Summarization based on Cognitive Intelligence

Computational Techniques for Text Summarization based on Cognitive Intelligence

The book is concerned with contemporary methodologies used for automatic text summarization. It proposes interesting approaches to solve well-known problems on text summarization using computational intelligence (CI) techniques including cognitive approaches. A better understanding of the cognitive basis of the summarization task is still an open research issue; an extent of its use in text summarization is highlighted for further exploration. With the ever-growing text people in research have little time to spare for extensive reading where summarized information helps for a better understanding of the context at a shorter time. This book helps students and researchers to automatically summarize the text documents in an efficient and effective way. The computational approaches and the research techniques presented guides to achieve text summarization at ease. The summarized text generated supports readers to learn the context or the domain at a quicker pace. The book is presented with reasonable amount of illustrations and examples convenient for the readers to understand and implement for their use. It is not to make readers understand what text summarization is but for people to perform text summarization using various approaches. This also describes measures that can help to evaluate determine and explore the best possibilities for text summarization to analyse and use for any specific purpose. The illustration is based on social media and healthcare domain which shows the possibilities to work with any domain for summarization. The new approach for text summarization based on cognitive intelligence is presented for further exploration in the field. | Computational Techniques for Text Summarization based on Cognitive Intelligence

Balance of Payments Theory and Economic Policy

Balance of Payments Theory and Economic Policy

An original and systematic synthesis of the major postwar developments in theory and policy of balance-of-payments adjustment this book focuses on the present-day system of pegged-but-adjustable exchange rates and the problems that policy authorities must face if they are to attain full employment price stability balance-of-payments equilibrium and a satisfactory rate of economic growth. The dominate theme of this book is that any system of exchange rates carries with it assumptions about the way it works and how effective the automatic and policy-motivated forces operate to bring about equilibrium in a country's balance of payments. By analyzing balance-of-payments adjustment and policies under alternative exchange-rate systems and with different assumptions concerning the level of employment and prices it is possible to embrace a wide variety of contemporary and historical circumstances experienced by individual countries and the world as a whole. In this way the author assesses the economic consequences of the different exchange-rate systems and of the policies that countries may follow to attain their national objectives. In particular it appears to Professor Stern that the international monetary turmoil of the past ten years can be traced to the exchange-rate inflexibilities of the adjustable-peg system and to the creation of excessive reserves under the dollar standard. He demonstrates that the international monetary system must be redesigned to permit greater exchange-rate inflexibility and control over the creation of new international reserve assets. | Balance of Payments Theory and Economic Policy

Forecasting and Analytics with the Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model (ADAM)

Forecasting and Analytics with the Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model (ADAM)

Forecasting and Analytics with the Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model (ADAM) focuses on a time series model in Single Source of Error state space form called “ADAM” (Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model). The book demonstrates a holistic view to forecasting and time series analysis using dynamic models explaining how a variety of instruments can be used to solve real life problems. At the moment there is no other tool in R or Python that would be able to model both intermittent and regular demand would support both ETS and ARIMA work with explanatory variables be able to deal with multiple seasonalities (e. g. for hourly demand data) and have a support for automatic selection of orders components and variables and provide tools for diagnostics and further improvement of the estimated model. ADAM can do all of that in one and the same framework. Given the rising interest in forecasting ADAM being able to do all those things is a useful tool for data scientists business analysts and machine learning experts who work with time series as well as any researchers working in the area of dynamic models. Key Features: • It covers basics of forecasting • It discusses ETS and ARIMA models • It has chapters on extensions of ETS and ARIMA including how to use explanatory variables and how to capture multiple frequencies • It discusses intermittent demand and scale models for ETS ARIMA and regression • It covers diagnostics tools for ADAM and how to produce forecasts with it • It does all of that with examples in R.
