Echinocereus rigidissimus rubrispinus - Rainbow Cactus - Hedgehog Cactus
The Echinocereus has a green body usually columnar with short spines held closely against the body. Often the spines are shades of red in colour making a very attractive plant. The stems are usually 8-10cm across and can grow up to 20cm in height. This Cactus has large purple flowers that are produced in early summer. This Cactus is commonly known as the Rainbow cactus and the distribution is abundant throughout Arizona and Mexico. No more difficult to grow than other cacti requiring your brightest location for the summer months and nice gritty compost, with attention to watering.
