DayZ: Livonia introduces the title map of 163 square kilometers. The location at our disposal is located in Eastern Europe, and the source of inspiration for it were Polish landscapes. The area includes not only dense forests full of lush vegetation, but also picturesque fields and river valleys, gloomy swamps, and finally ruins and other remnants of an ancient civilization. In addition to the rich flora, Livonia abounds in wild game and fish, which means that gathering, fishing and hunting are possible here. However, be careful during your escapades, as a dangerous brown bear is roaming the area. Frostpunk: On The Edge is another extension to the Frostpunk strategy game released in 2018. This time we will witness the events that take place after the story presented in the basic version of the game, unlike the previous The Last Autumn. The add-on expands the formula known from previous publications and introduces a completely new plot to it. The title was developed by the authors of the original game, i.e. the Polish company 11 bit studios (also known from the successful This War of Mine). The action of the expansion begins when a great storm, some distance from New London, reveals a military warehouse from before the evacuation times. We lead a group of scouts whose task is to set up a camp nearby and build a permanent supply chain to the capital. The conditions in this area pose challenges for them that they did not have to face before. There are no animals or other food sources on the title edge, so the heroes rely on deliveries from New London. Capital leaders have their whims, though, and they won't be sending supplies forever - scouts must keep proving that the contents of the warehouse are worth the support. The only consolation is the weather conditions in the area. The snowfall on the edge is not that intense, making it possible to survive here without generators. At least for a while. The gameplay does not differ much from the basic version of the game. We manage the construction of the settlement all the time and organize its inhabitants so that they cooperate well with each other. Due to the expansion of the known formula with new plot threads, more emphasis was placed on exploration and the need to adapt to the prevailing conditions. The action of the add-on takes place on a completely foreign map equipped with unique structures, the research of which forces us to develop new schemes of operation. Among the added mechanics are building economic and diplomatic relations. The basic version of the game works within one settlement, so you only had to take care of its interests. This time, however, it is mostly about the survival of the group of scouts we command, dependent on our relationship with New London. Therefore, we must plan and act in such a way as not to worsen these relations to a dangerous level. In addition, new methods of uniting or dividing people have been put into our hands. Before using any of them, we must consider whether it will definitely bring good results for our settlement. Each of the decisions is associated with a morally ambiguous dilemma, many of which we could already see in the "stand".

The story told in Beautiful Desolation begins in 1980, when a mysterious monolith appeared in the sky. A construction of foreign origin, dubbed Penrose by humans, has been thoroughly researched by scientists, and the technology gathered on it has been subjected to so-called reverse engineering. Thanks to this, mankind has made an unimaginable civilization leap. Though initially the terrestrial population seemed united in the face of the remarkable discovery, over time they remembered their old disagreements, which soon led to the outbreak of a global conflict. Many years have passed since these tragic events. The player goes to post-apocalyptic Africa and takes control of two heroes. The first is Dr. Mark Leslie, and the second is Pooch - a four-legged reconnaissance unit, the development of which was possible mainly thanks to the use of technology from Penrose. The overriding task of the machine is to collect data on the places it visits and the organisms it meets, and its purely scientific and logical approach to many issues often irritates Marek, which is why he gives vent to dialogues with a solid dose of humor. An important figure is also the scientist's brother - Major Sergeant Don Leslie, a former Marine and a veteran of the Vietnam War. In Beautiful Desolation, the action is presented in isometric projection. The gameplay scheme is based on several pillars, the first of which is exploration. The world, developed in collaboration with Brian Fargo, is an original mix of semi-arid landscapes and post-apocalyptic cities and settlements. The land is inhabited not only by various groups using the technology developed years ago, but also local tribes whose culture is modeled on the rituals and customs characteristic of the indigenous people of Africa. Moreover, representatives of mutated fauna stand in the way of the heroes. Animals can be friendly or, on the contrary, pose a real threat to the protagonists. Despite this, no combat mechanics have been implemented in the game. In addition, an important element of the game is solving puzzles, based primarily on the manipulation of objects found during the game. Due to the fact that their level of difficulty varies, players are forced to look for various clues, the source of which can be both conversations with encountered NPCs and careful observation of the surrounding elements. In the course of the game we use equipment - extremely advanced technology, the way of operation of which can resemble magic, coexists here with retro-futuristic devices, developed in the style of the 1980s.
