Diospyros Kaki Pendula (Japanese Persimmon / Kaki)
Native of China and Japan, where it has been cultivated for over a millennium, Japanese Persimmon is a small, deciduous fruit tree, increasingly found in gardens with its large, dark green leaves that turn orange and purple in autumn and its fruits crowding the tree until late autumn, bringing a note of lively, glowing colour. The yellowish-white flowers, on the other hand, in April-May are rather dull. Prefers temperate or hot climates, but grows successfully in northern zones. No problems as far as soil is concerned, adapts even to damp terrain, with sub-acid or sub-alkaline pH.
