Agave Americana Mediopicta (Mediopicta Century Plant)

Agave Americana Mediopicta (Mediopicta Century Plant)

Mediopicta is a medium to smaller growing form of Agave Americana. Specimens even survive in pots or in the ground in the wet winters of the south coast of England. At the other extreme it may be seen planted out in southern Arizona and Texas. They are usually cultivated outdoors in rock gardens as well as cactus and succulent gardens. They are often used in Mediterranean-style landscapes, in borders, or as a specimen plant. They require full sun and a very well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy or gravely soil. As an ornamental it is also grown in containers where it stays much smaller than its outdoor brethren. The Agave Americana grows fairly fast in summer if provided with copious water but allow thorough drying before watering again. During the winter months, one should only water enough to keep the leaves from shrivelling. They do well in full sun or a lightly shaded area. Pinus Mugo Mughus (Dwarf Mountain Pine) - Shrub

Pinus Mugo Mughus (Dwarf Mountain Pine) - Shrub

A small and slow-growing evergreen pine that makes a lovely bush or shrubbery. The Dwarf Mountain Pine originated in central Europe and is commonly found within the Balkan Peninsula – rocky slopes with thin soil that are constantly exposed to the elements. This resistance to cold and drought makes the Dwarf Mountain Pine ideally suited to survive the weather cycle here in the UK. Their slow growth makes them low maintenance and easy to manage – a great choice for large patio pots and pathway borders. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky. Conifers get their name from the "cones" that they produce – which come in all shapes and sizes. Conifer leaves are evergreen and will either be needle-shaped or scale-like. Latin Name: Pinus Mugo Mughus English Name: Dwarf Mountain Pine, Mugo Pine, Swiss Mountain Pine Species: Conifer Genus: Pinus (Pine) Foliage Type: Evergreen. Foliage: Dark Green. Mint Julep / Chinese Juniper (Juniperus x Pfitzeriana Mint Julep)

A bright green shrub with a “weeping” growth pattern. The Mint Julep Juniper looks wonderful as a shrub-border or as part of an Oriental-style garden. Easy to maintain, the Mint Julep's evergreen branches will give your garden year-round interest, whether used on flat ground, or slopes and embankments. Cedrus Deodara Feelin’ Blue (Feelin’ Blue Cedar / Blue Deodar Cedar)

Cedrus Deodara Feelin’ Blue (Feelin’ Blue Cedar / Blue Deodar Cedar)

This is a dwarf strain of Cedrus Deodara – meaning it will not grow as high as its cousin the “Fountain Tree”. The Feelin’ Blue Cedar is a slow-growing conifer, that prefers to grow outwards horizontally, rather than upwards. This makes it a good choice for shrubbery, for protecting slopes from soil erosion and for marking property boundaries (you will probably have seen it used along the edges of shopping centre car parks, steering people towards the designated entrance/exit points). Native to the cold mountains of Kashmir, it gets its name from the blueish-green needles that burst from its long hanging branches. Thuja Orientalis Pyramidalis Aurea (Golden Pyramidal Thuja)

Thuja Orientalis Pyramidalis Aurea (Golden Pyramidal Thuja)

A bright and cheery Thuja Plant with dense yellow-green foliage. The thick foliage of the Golden Pyramid Thuja is fresh green in its youth and matures to a golden-yellow in the summer/autumn, before gaining a reddish-bronze glow in the winter. As you can see from the photos here on GardenPlantsOnline, its natural shape is actually a pointed-oval – a lot narrower than the triangular pyramid that its name implies. This is a very low-maintenance tree that needs almost no attention once it has established itself and acclimatised to your garden. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky.
