Nerium Oleander (East Indian Oleander) - Half Standard

Nerium Oleander (East Indian Oleander) - Half Standard

Nerium Oleander, commonly known as oleander; is a large evergreen ornamental shrub that has been cultivated since ancient times. The narrowly lanceolate are leathery and dark green. They usually grow in pairs or groups of three. The stem is covered with greyish bark and exudes sticky latex if it is cut. Oleander grows well in warm subtropical regions and is extensively used in the Mediterranean as an ornamental shrub in parks and gardens or informal hedge along roadsides. Make sure small children and pets are kept away from oleanders as all parts of the plant are highly toxic if eaten but not normally dangerous to touch though the latex can cause irritation in people who are allergic to it. The plant itself has a low hardiness rating of H3, making it unsuitable for the British winter time. Make sure to shelter it during any potential cold snaps. The plant is generally disease free but is prone to potential pests so take this into consideration. Stick to the guidelines of pruning group 9 for this plant. Latin Name: Nerium Oleander English Name: East Indian Oleander, Jamaica South Sea Rose Species: Apocynaceae Genus: Nerium Foliage Type: Evergreen Foliage: Green-Grey Flower: Pink-Red-White-Yellow Flowering Period: Summer Toxicity: All parts are highly toxic if ingested. Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Standard

Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Standard

Olea Europaea is increasingly being grown in containers as a Specimen Plant in UK gardens. The attractive evergreen foliage accounts for its popularity as the olive tree retains its pointed leathery grey-green leaves all year round. Tiny scented white flowers appear in late spring often followed later in the year by small, ornamental fruit. For the olive tree fruit to ripen fully, it needs a long, hot summer followed by a cooler winter, though the exact temperatures depend on the specific cultivar. Despite this, some gardeners in milder parts of the UK have managed to grow edible olives from their own olive tree. This plant needs plenty of natural sunlight and it has a hardiness rating of H4, making it very durable in the UK’s climate. Just make sure to shelter the plants during extreme cold snaps. Try to give this plant a once year trim and follow the guidelines of pruning group 1 for further ideas. The plant is generally disease free but has a potential problem with pests. Latin Name: Olea Europaea English Name: Common Olive Species: Oleaceae Genus: Olea Foliage Type: Evergreen. Foliage: Green-Grey-White Fragrance: Flower Flower: White Flowering Period: Summer Suggested Location: Outdoor. Suggested Soil Type: Moist but well-drained. Under glass, grow in John Innes No 3 with added sharp sand, in full light Propagation: Propagate by seed in spring at a temperature of 13 - 15°C (55 - 59°F). Can also be propagated by semi-ripe cuttings in summer Suggested planting locations and garden types: City & Courtyard Gardens Coastal Gravel Garden Mediterranean Climate Plants Patio & Container Plants Sub-tropical Pests: Scale insect may be a problem Diseases: Usually trouble free Final Height: 4 m - 8 m (13.1 ft – 26.2 ft) Final Spread: 1.5 m – 2.5 m (4.9 ft – 8.2 ft) Delivery Cost: This is calculated based on the total size, weight and quantity of your order, as well as the location of your delivery address. Rhyncospermum Jasminoides / Trachelospermum Jasminoides (Star Jasmine) – Square Espalier

Rhyncospermum Jasminoides / Trachelospermum Jasminoides (Star Jasmine) – Square Espalier

A climbing, evergreen, woody shrub. Its leaves are oval, shiny and darkgreen in colour with a lighter shade on the undersides. From May to the end of the month of August, simple, pure white, 5-petalled, intensely fragrant flowers are produced. Trachelospermum jasminoides is commonly grown as an ornamental plant and houseplant. In gardens, public landscapes, and parks it is used as a climbing vine, a groundcover, and a fragrant potted plant on terraces and patios. It will flower in full sun, partial shade, or total shade, and requires well-drained soil (if constantly kept damp it may succumb to fungal infection), moderate water, moderate fertilizer, and a climbing structure (whether a trellis or another plant is secondary). Propagation is most commonly done with cuttings/clones. It is widely planted in California and also particularly in the Southeastern United States. It is debated however, where the common name for this plant, confederate jasmine, comes from. While some dictionaries suggest that the name comes from the plant’s common cultivation in the southern United States, others argue that the term actually comes from Malaysia, and the former Malay confederacy. It gets another of its common names, trader’s compass, from an old Uzbekistan saying that it pointed traders in the right direction, provided they were of good character. It is also called star jasmine in Europe and Chinese jasmine or Chinese ivy in Asia. Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Half Standard

Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Half Standard

Olea Europaea olive fruit tree is increasingly being grown in containers as a Specimen Plant in UK gardens. The attractive evergreen foliage accounts for its popularity as the olive tree retains its pointed leathery grey-green leaves all year round.Tiny scented white flowers appear in late spring often followed later in the year by small, ornamental fruit. Just make sure to shelter the plants during extreme cold snaps.Try to give this plant a once year trim and follow the guidelines of pruning group 1 for further ideas. The plant is generally disease free but has a potential problem with pests. Citrus x Sinensis (Orange Trees) - Half Standard

Citrus x Sinensis (Orange Trees) - Half Standard

Citrus × Sinensis, also known as the Citrus Aurantium (Sweet Orange Group), includes the commonly cultivated sweet oranges, including blood oranges and navel oranges. The origin of the original plant is obscure to history but it is believed to have originated in southern Asia, particularly South China and Vietnam. The plant starts to bloom from Spring until Autumn. Producing delightfully fragrant fruit and blossom, orange trees are an interesting way of bringing rich colour to your garden. Susceptible to frost, oranges can be kept indoors during the winter months but must be situated in an area with plenty of sun. Tolerant of most soil types, they need lots of watering when the surrounding soil is dry but be careful not to over-water. Pruning can be done to encourage further growth and increased fruition. It has a low tolerance to cold weather being only a H3 on the hardiness scale, therefore it is best to keep this plant in warmer conditions the best you can. Stick to pruning group 1 for guidance on how to maintain this plant. The plant is generally disease free but be careful of potential pests. Bougainvillea Glabra 'Sanderiana' - Espalier

Bougainvillea Glabra 'Sanderiana' - Espalier

This flowering plant is loved for its abundant floral display in vivid colours. The actual flowers are tiny and white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by thin papery bracts in bright colours. There exist around 300 varieties of bougainvillea which come in various colours burgundy, pink, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. It is a long lived plant which flowers seasonally and is deciduous in temperate climates though evergreen in the tropics. Although it is essentially a thorny, woody vine, it can be grown in any size and shape outdoors; covering a sunny wall, trained as a tree, bush or even a pyramid. In cooler climates it can be grown as an indoor container plant or even an indoor bonsai. We would not see this plant as a good choice for cold, wet and damp areas like Scotland.
