Design: George Nelson, 1947-1953 Concept: The night watch designed by American designer George Nelson has a stylish and timeless expression. Its semicircular acrylic glass in front, gives a nice rounding and counterpoint to the otherwise clean lines that adorn the watch. The color combination between the black and the white and red details on the dial and the hands, gives a nice play and will adorn any shelf, bookcase or table where it finds its rightful place. The story behind: In the years 1948-1960, George Nelson and his staff designed more than 150 watches for the American watchmaker Howard Miller. The collection consists of a mixture of wall clocks and table clocks, with the common features that the shapes are played freely and that none of the clocks have numbers on the dial. By examining the modern approach to the use of clocks, Nelson came to the conclusion that one was no longer dependent on the numbers on the dial, but rather read the position of the hands. In addition, he argued that most people went with wristwatches, which is why the watch in the home had become a piece of design more than a functional object.
