Cotton canvas navy

Cotton canvas navy

100% cotton canvas for your next DIY project A durable, tightly woven piece of cotton canvas can be used for many exciting DIY projects. Select your favourites and sew delightful storage and laundry baskets for the home, lovely bags, spacious storage bags or a cool duffel bag.   Decorate with intricate details for your very personal look.   Get out the paintbrush Use the cotton canvas as your canvas – quite literally. Stretch the fabric onto a frame, find brushes and paint, let the colours flow freely, and create a personal painting that can adorn the wall in the living room, the children's room or the holiday home. It can only turn out well!  A few more details Cotton canvas is a tightly woven, durable and hard-wearing fabric that you can use for projects requiring a robust surface.   The fabric by the metre is made of 100% cotton, has a width of 140 cm, and can be ordered by the metre. Expect it to shrink 3% upon washing.   Since cotton canvas is a heavy material, it's crucial to use the right needle and thread. We recommend either a jeans needle or a universal needle size 90 along with a robust thread. You might want to increase the stitch length to give your project a genuinely exquisite look.   What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.  When the fabric by the metre is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it's your assurance that it has been tested and approved and is free from any harmful chemicals.

Sew Your Own Rainwear When sewing your own rainwear, choosing the right material is essential to ensure your new rainwear keeps you dry. This fabric is a good choice, as you get a quality that is lightweight, practical, windproof and waterproof with a water column pressure of 5,000 mm.  Choose from several beautiful colours.  Rainwear That Fits Design rainwear that's not just functional, but also stylish and personal. When you sew your own rainwear, you have the opportunity to tailor it to your needs and preferences. Adjust the design to fit your exact figure and add pockets and other details to suit your needs.  To ensure your rainwear remains waterproof, it's important to seal the seams by making the correct stitches: Search for "seam tape for rainwear fabric" and find a free guide.  About Water Column Pressure Water column pressure indicates how large a column of water the material can withstand before water begins to penetrate. The higher the water column pressure, the more waterproof it is. A good rule of thumb is that +2,000 mm is good for light rain showers/short trips in the rain, while +5,000 is for a heavier rain shower or a couple of hours with light rain. If you're going to be out in heavy rain, we recommend +8,000 mm.  Some Practical Information This fabric consists of 65% polyester and 35% polyurethane. The width is 140 cm, while you naturally choose the length you need for your project.  We recommend using a universal needle size 70.  What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.  When the fabric is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it's your guarantee that it has been tested and approved and is free from any harmful chemicals.

Viscose jersey navy

Viscose jersey navy

Viscose + jersey = a new favourite Viscose and jersey are two popular terms within textiles. In this fabric, we combine the two qualities, giving you a light and soft material with good breathability and comfortable stretch.  Colourful designs Whether you prefer black and white, earthy tones or vibrant colours – you'll find the entire colour palette in this fabric. Choose one or more favourites, get out your sewing machine, and sew your new outfit.  The material is suitable for almost all types of clothing, but of course, we have some favourites.  One of them is the classic top. Once you've found the right fit, you can easily change its look by simply choosing a new colour. Or how about making small adjustments in the design, so you have your favourite top with short, ¾, and long sleeves?  The fabric is suitable for much more than classic tops! Use it for dresses, leggings, trousers, and skirts. Find plenty of inspiration in our sewing patterns or design your own favourite.  A bit of practicality Viscose has been used for clothing for over 100 years. The fabric consists of processed and regenerated cellulose from sources like wood pulp or cotton waste. It's similar to natural fibres like cotton and silk. Here, the viscose is mixed with elastane (6%), giving you a stretchable viscose.  You choose the length you need for your sewing project. The fabric measures 145 cm in width and shrinks by 6% when washed.  When working with jersey, we recommend using a jersey needle, characterised by having a medium point – also known as ball point. The needle easily penetrates the knitted quality and prevents stitches and threads from running. For this type of jersey, we recommend jersey needles in size 70/80.

Woven rainwear quality navy

Woven rainwear quality navy

Wind and waterproof, ready for the rain Rainwear is practical when it's raining, but the fact is, it can be challenging to find rainwear with a good fit. The legs are too long, the sleeves too wide, and that small pocket for the key is missing. You can solve this by designing and sewing your own rainwear! Choose, for instance, this exquisite rainwear quality, which is soft, fabric-like and sporty in its expression. It has a membrane on the back, making it perfect for all weather conditions – and suitable for both children and adults. The quality is wind and waterproof with a water column pressure of 7,000 mm and good breathability of 3,000 mm. Sew smart rainwear This material is naturally suited for classic rainwear that you can adjust to your exact size. However, the fabric-like surface also makes it especially suitable for a neat waterproof coat or perhaps an all-in-one suit with a tie belt at the waist? Alternatively, you can use this fabric as the backside for a picnic blanket, ensuring everyone sits dry and comfortable – even if it's rained in the past few days or the dew has set in. Keep your project waterproof by using the right seams: Search for "seam tape for rainwear fabric" and find a free guide. About water column pressure Water column pressure indicates the height of a water column the material can withstand before water begins to penetrate. The higher the water column pressure, the more waterproof. A good rule of thumb is that +2,000 mm is suitable for light rain showers/short trips in the rain, while +5,000 is for a heavier rain shower or a few hours in light rain. If you're out in heavy rain, we recommend +8,000 mm. Some practical details This fabric consists of 100% polyester and measures 140 cm in width, and you, of course, choose the length you need for your DIY project. We recommend using a universal needle size 70. What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.
