A Great Mix in Beautiful Colours This combination of linen and viscose is lightweight with a fine and smooth texture. It's a great choice for summer clothing for both adults and children, because it's light, lovely, and has the good absorption ability that you know from linen.   At the same time, you get a fabric that's a bit softer than pure linen, wrinkles less, and has a touch of elasticity, making it more flexible in use.   Summer Clothing and Home Accessories Just find your sewing machine and pattern and get started. Is your summer wardrobe missing a breezy skirt with an elastic waist? A simple top, some new trousers, or a summer dress? You can find lots of inspiration in our sewing patterns.   Of course, you can also use the fabric for beautiful DIY projects at home. Freshen up the sofa with new decorative pillows, breathe new life into the living room with floor-length airy curtains, or set the table with matching tablecloth and napkins in your favourite colour.  A Bit More About This Linen The fabric is made of 55% linen and 45% viscose, comes in a width of 135 cm, and of course, you choose the length you need for your project. Lightweight Linen for Summer DIY  Linen comes in various thicknesses; here you get one of the lighter qualities with fine weaves. Choose your favourite colour, and use the linen for summer clothing such as a cool bucket hat, lovely shirts, and airy trousers. Linen allows the skin to breathe and is light and comfortable to wear.     Linen for the Home  Linen also works well when making soft toys and decorations, where you want that slightly rustic, natural look.     We also love linen for table settings! Allow the tablecloth to wrinkle slightly with matching napkins and use a coarse stone as a "napkin ring" to keep everything in place in the summer breeze. Or iron everything before use for a classic look.     Linen – the Natural Material  Linen is a natural fibre that has been used for clothing for thousands of years. It's a durable, lightweight, breathable, and absorbent material, often worn in warm weather. It tends to wrinkle and is therefore perfect for a more casual look.     Did you know that linen becomes softer when you wash it a few times?     A Bit More About This Linen  The fabric is made from 100% linen, comes in a width of 140 cm and exactly the length you need. This linen shrinks 5% when washed.     We recommend that you use universal needles in size 80 when sewing with this linen.     What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®?  OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.   When the fabric is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it guarantees that it has been tested and approved without any harmful chemicals.

Cotton satin black

Cotton satin black

Cotton satin - the best of both worldsHow about trying our soft cotton fabric in a range of beautiful colours for your next creative project. It's soft and comfortable to work with.Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven. This means that when we say cotton satin, it has the same beautiful weave as more 'classic' satin, while the cotton quality gives a more matt finish to the fabric.  And what can you use cotton satin for? Well, that’s entirely up to you. We prefer using it for bed linen. The natural material of the cotton in the delicate satin weave makes for some really lovely home made bed linen. As with so many other cottons, it is also suitable for clothing. Cotton is comfortable to wear and the fine weave gives it a nice finish - for a summer shirt or skirt, for example. Cotton satin is also perfect for a tablecloth for the table. Sew the tablecloth yourself or select "Sew as a tablecloth" and we will sew it for you (click on the text for details). Practical information about cotton satinMade from 100% cotton, it's soft and fluffy and, as always, you buy the fabric by the metre, so you get exactly the length you need. The fabric is 145 cm wide, has a weight of 130 grams and shrinks about 8% in the wash. You can wash it at 60° and iron at medium heat - but avoid the tumble dryer; let it air dry instead. TIP: Finish your seams properly - satin tends to fray a lot. You could also consider using a wider seam allowance to secure your seams or use overlock stitching. As always - test your seams on a scrap piece beforehand to see which technique works best for your piece of fabric. Search "9 tips for sewing satin" for more tips. What is satin? Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven, where one side of the material is smooth and shiny. For this satin we recommend that you use a size 70 universal needle. What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®?OEKO-TEX® is the world-leading label for textiles tested for harmful substances.Once the fabric has achieved a STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, it is your guarantee it has been tested and approved not to contain any harmful chemicals.Meaning it is neither harmful to you nor your health and it’s less harmful to the environment.
