Designer: Mathieu Matégot in 1953 Concept: The elegant flower pot from GUBI was designed in 1953 by Mathieu Matégot in his heyday. The jar is beautifully and gracefully designed from perforated metal sheets, with a technique called Rigitulle and made into a refined and elegant jar that combines design, art and technique. By combining several sizes and colors, an artistic grace can be created in the living room, garden or on the balcony. For the flower pot, an inner jar in glass is included so that the water does not seep through. The flower pot is part of the popular Matégot series which also consists of a coat rack, a bowl and a trolley of the same style. Mathieu Matégot (1910 - 2001) was an independent and self-taught Hungarian designer, architect and artist. He lived most of his life in his beloved Paris where he settled in 1931, after graduating from the Hungarian University of Art and Design in Budapest. In 1939, Matégot volunteered for the Finnish army, but was captured in Germany until he fled in 1944. The war period played a career-important role for Martégot, as he became acquainted with the innovative material and technique Rigitulle, which today characterizes his style.

GUBI Stemlite Wall Lamp Dimmable Black Chrome

Design: Stemlite designed by Bill Curry, 1962 Concept: The idea behind the design for Stemlite, was based on a hope from Bill Curry's side to be able to change the norms for lamp design. He wanted to create a lamp that did not consist of the, at the time, otherwise so traditional base, bulb, shade construction. Curry wanted to create a lamp that combined the three components into an organic, colorful lamp. That desire resulted in the first '' Total look '' lamp, Stemlite. The design draws inspiration from flowers which, with their strong but thin stems, can hold a heavy flower head upright. This can also be seen on the metal base which mimics the stems of a tulip. Via the mouth-blown glass ball on top, the Stemlite issues a calm and pleasantly diffused light that can be adjusted via the built-in dimmable function. Stemlite was Bill Curry's best-selling collection, and was also used to present American design in the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, and Iraq in the 1960s. Stemlite has been brought back to life by GUBI, to reintroduce the world to Bill Curry's amazing work. The Stemlite collection is also available as a table lamp, pendant and floor lamp. As an update to the Stemlite series, this wall lamp has a built-in dimmable function.
