Karateka is a brawl which is a continuation of the hit from the 80s of the last century. The whole was designed by the creator of the original - Jordan Mechner, who is best known as the father of the Prince of Persia series. The game was developed by Liquid Entertainment studio, known for such titles as Battle Realms, Dragonshard, Rise of the Argonauts or Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter. We play the role of the title karate master, whose beloved Mariko was kidnapped by the evil Lord Akuma. Of course, our task is to release it. For this, we have to face the minions of the villain. The game remained faithful to the basic concepts of the original and only modernized them accordingly. So the fun is about playing a series of duels with more and more powerful opponents. This time we can choose between several characters, each of which has its own fighting style and special attacks. Matches in Karateka are played at a rather slow pace and put more emphasis on choosing the right tactics and choosing the right moments of attacks than crazy tapping on fancy button sequences. Jordan Mechner enlisted the help of several talented artists in producing the game. Jeff Matsuda, who designed the characters in the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon and broadcast in the 2004-2008 animated series The Batman, is responsible for the graphic style. On the other hand, the music was composed by Christopher Tin, known to players primarily for the great soundtrack to Sid Meier's Civilizaton IV.
