The right level of soundThe sounder is set during commissioning to one of sevenlevels of sound the highest level being nominally 101 dbA at 1m. At lessthan 60 dbA the lowest level falls outside the scope of the EN54 standard. Ithas been included to provide a very local warning for the use of personnel in particularenvironments such as nurse stations in hospitals.AddressingThe Open-Area Alarm Devices respond to their own individual address which is set via the appropriate XPERTaddress card. Group address and tones on CoreProtocol systems are set using the fire control panel.Location-specific volume settingDetectors and sounder indicators are installed in manydifferent types of environment. When configuring the Intelligent Open-Area Sounder devicesthe adjustment of the volume can be done at the point of installation. The commissioning engineer simply sets the control panel to Set-upand then walks from one device to the next to set the required volume using amagnetic wand. The sounder visual indicator complements Apollos intelligent and integrated base sounders as well as the Multi-Tone Open-Area Sounder.The Multi-tone Open-Area Alarm Devices responds to their own individual address set with a DIL switch. They can also respond to a Group Address which allows multiple sounders to be controlled simultaneously. A group address may be any spare address between 112 and 126 and is selected by means of a 4 segment DIL switch.An Alarm Device under group address control must have an individual address between 1 and 111 otherwise a fault value of 4 is transmitted. Alarm Devices not using the group address facility may be addressed at any address 1126.The Weatherproof Multi-Tone Open-Area Sounder Visual Indicator is designed for use in outdoor open areas and can be connected to any Discovery or XP95 system.
