As we probably know (or not), this plan, despite initial successes (capturing the Waal bridge in the Dutch town of Nijmegen), ended in a general failure (the most important bridge on the Rhine, located in the city of Arnhem, was never captured and held), and Before the participation of the British 1st Airborne Division (which also included the Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade) was encircled and completely destroyed by the German counteroffensive.
