Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land belongs to the genre commonly known as tactical RPGs. The gameplay consists, in particular, in fighting turn-based battles. The game boasts a quite extensive combat system. Each character has its own number of action points that determine what actions, including attack and movement, can be performed. For example, we can fire a pistol twice in one turn. The rifle, on the other hand, requires reloading, so you can only pull the trigger once. We can improve accuracy by aiming for longer, which costs more points than shooting from the hip, but also gives you a better chance of hitting. The shield system plays a key role in reducing the risk of injury. We can also set ambushes for enemies. If, at the end of the turn, the heroes still have action points in reserve, then when one of the enemies is on the line of fire during the enemy's turn, our units will attack him automatically.
