However, a lot of minor changes have been introduced - for example, you can knock out several enemies at once or deal blows to lying opponents. The modified counter system has also returned. This time, the Dark Knight must be more careful when fighting, because not only stronger opponents can catch him, but also less significant "hurdles". A novelty in the series is also the introduction of the Bat-Man, well-known from comic books and movies. Using the Batmobile, the Dark Knight can quickly move from place to place, launch rockets, stun enemies, and catapult to immediately switch to gliding in the air, well-known from previous games. It is worth noting that in Arkham Knight the gameplay moves to the central zone of Gotham City, which has been divided into three separate areas. Warden of the Asylum, Quincy Sharp, unjustly attributed the heroic actions to himself which have granted him the position of the new mayor of Gotham City. After gaining the power and money, he bought a colossal slums area of the city, leaving hundreds of lower-class citizens without a roof over their heads. After that, the new mayor ordered the building of enormous walls around the area and placed the most terrible criminals inside. That was the birth of Arkham City. Instead of killing one another, criminals locked within this new zone started creating organized gangs, becoming even more dangerous than before. Arkham City became the ultimate city of crime, supervised by Hugo Strange – a mysterious lone appointed by the major. Strange gives his ‘protégées’ total freedom, with only one rule – nobody escapes. There are plenty of new moves and means of cancelling enemies. It is worth to mention, that combat is now definitely more challenging, as enemies won’t give you much time for reaction. Their attacks are coordinated and highly dangerous. You will encounter goons equipped with knives, guns, riot shields, tasers, etc. and will pose a real threat quite often. Of course, we can try a more subtle, stealthy approach and eliminate our enemies quietly, without letting them see what’s coming. The combat is not the only activity available in Arkham City. During our stay in this hostile place, we can explore the area that is approximately 5 times bigger than Arkham Asylum. The city is full of The Riddler’s puzzles, random events, and engaging side quests. In addition to that, the developers from Rocksteady have given us the opportunity to play as sensual Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman. The heroine possesses a number of unique skills and equipment, allowing us to try out a completely different set of skills. Reception Arkham City received extremely positive feedback from both critics and the gaming community. According to the Steam platform, 96% of user’s reviews are positive. The production was developed by Telltale Games, a studio specializing in this genre, known e.g. from such titles as Tales from the Borderlands, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us or Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series.The plot of Batman: The Telltale Series is not directly related to any movie, comic book or game dedicated to Batman. Instead, developers from Telltale Games studio presented players with their own vision of the city of Gotham and the interpretation of the character of the famous superhero, focusing in a typical way on the issues of his moral choices. The game presents Batman at a relatively early stage of his career, when he already has all the well-known gadgets, and criminals respect him. On the other hand, the police are still wary of him, and some law enforcement officials don't mind using a gun when they see him.The whole story is about both aspects of our protagonist's life and the activities undertaken both as Batman and Bruce Wayne. Importantly, the choices of each of these identities affect the reality of the latter. The scenario focuses mainly on the hero's personal problems, including attempts to maintain the reputation of his own family, as well as the effects of the night fight with criminals on his body and psyche.In the game we meet a whole gallery of celebrities known to fans of the series, such as Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon and Renee Montoya. However, there were no different Batman helpers like Robin, Batgirl or Nightwing.The plot of the game consists of five episodes: Realm of Shadows, Children of Arkham, New World Order, Guardian of Gotham, and City of Light.In terms of mechanics, Batman: The Telltale Series follows paths worn by most of the studio's previous games. Therefore, we get an adventure game composed of five episodes, in which there are no traditional story puzzles, and the gameplay focuses on telling an interesting story, shaped by the choices and actions of the player. While playing, we mainly explore subsequent locations, conduct extensive dialogue sequences with NPCs and make a number of moral decisions that, at key moments of the game, affect the further development of the story. Importantly, these consequences take place not only within one episode, but also in all subsequent ones, thanks to which the game can be played multiple times, each time discovering a different version of the story.As we direct the actions of the famous superhero, there are also numerous action scenes during the game, which were realized in the traditional form of a QTE sequence (quick time events) for the Telltale Games studio. It is also present during traditional combat scenes, when flawlessly pressing the appropriate keys charges a special energy bar, the filling of which allows us to quickly end the fight.
