Technobabylon takes place in 2087 in the dystopian metropolis of the future. Genetic engineering and technological modification are the order of the day, addiction to Transe, a drug based on virtual reality that replaces human contact with others, is spreading, and administrative matters are managed by artificial intelligence known as the Headquarters. The brutal and well-armed organization CEL is responsible for maintaining order, combining the roles of the military, police and research institute. In the game, we play the role of three heroes. Dr. Charlie Regis is a geneticist and investigator at CEL. The man is being blackmailed by unknown perpetrators, and the whole thing has to do with the death of his wife more than 20 years earlier and their unborn children. Latha Sesame is a Transu addicted woman suffering from agoraphobia, or fear of open space. A failed assassination attempt forces her to make an effort to break free and find answers in the real world. The third protagonist is Max Lao, a representative of the uniformed services, whose loyalty is put to the test when she receives an order to arrest her life partner. Although the stories of individual characters seem independent, they are interwoven with the theme of a large-scale political conspiracy that threatens not only the lives of the main characters, but also the world they know. The game is a classic point-and-click adventure game. We spend most of our time exploring locations, having conversations, collecting items and solving puzzles. We move around the game world, moving between two-dimensional screens made in pixel art technique. The graphic design is in the retro cyberpunk style and is reminiscent of adventure games from the nineties, but it offers smoother animation. Ben Chandler, who previously worked on the Blackwell series, is responsible for the setting.
