In fact, to this day, (six generations from when it started), Grant's is still family owned, and stays true to the founders original (and closely guarded) recipe. Three's play a big part in Grant's Whisky, from the three sided bottle, to their three ingredients' of Scottish water, Air and Barley. However it's their Triple Wood, held in their name and process which makes them quite different. They mature their whisky in three different types of barrels; Virgin Oak (providing a robust spiciness), American Oak (giving a smooth vanilla flavour) and Bourbon refill (which gives a brown sugar sweetness, and a smooth mellow taste). Once matured, these are blended to give the Grant's Triple Wood Whisky which is known and loved the world over. On the nose this is a whisky with a complex aroma, blending ripe pear and delicious summer fruits. Van Kleef Gin (Mini) 5cl

Van Kleef Gin  Founded in 1842 in the heart of the city of the Hague, Van Kleef is now the last remaining jenever and liqueur brand to be found based there. They believe the quality, craftmanship, and the combined history in their drinks help to make a true "lifewater".  For their gin, they use a base of a grain alcohol - which helps ensure a smooth gin. Whilst the full recipe is a secret, the flavours in predominant flavours are juniper (it is gin!), coriander and angelica seed.  The result is a classic gin, but one with a twist. Hooghoudt Sweet Spiced Genever With their sweet spiced genever, Hooghoudt bring a contemporaty twist to Genever - and sure to please genever lovers, as well as introduce it to a whole new audience. Made in a traditional way, with juniper and spice - this has a sweetened taste (as the name suggests), being made also with vanilla and cinnamon.  This is a really apppealing genever on the nose, with a sweet caramel aroma and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. There is a definite note of juniper too, and a touch of liquorice. On the palate this has similar notes to the aroma. It's smooth, and bursting with flavour. There's quite a lot of spice, but mild and warming rather than full of heat. A touch of fruit from grapefruit and apricot, and caramel along with vanilla really come through as well. Two Stacks Irish Whiskey - Dram in a Can In creating Two Stacks, there was a desire to blend not just whiskey, but also the very best of contemporary Irish flavour and the real heritage of distilling. Historically in Ireland, merchants and grocers would blend and age their own whiskey blends. They would select from distilleries and then chose their own casks in which to age. Over the last 150 years this heritage has slowly been on the decline. Two Stacks wanted to change this. Relying on traditional techniques, they chose whiskies, blend and cask. Then through taste and nose they decide when the Whiskey has reached its maturity and then empty and hand label each bottle. For their Dram in a Can Two Stacks wanted to create a truly distinctive Irish Whiskey, but one for the contemporary palate. To do this they created a blend of grain whiskey's aged in virgin oak and bourbon oak casks. A Pot still whiskey which has been aged in Oloroso Sherry Casks. And finishes with a bourbon cask matured double-distilled malt, and a peated malt aged in bourbon casks. On the nose there is a sweetness, joined by warm butter and a hint of peach tea. It is delicately sweet and spicy whiskey on the palate, with blackberry notes, butterscotch and toasted oak. The finish is long, with a playful warm honey note. Brecon Chocolate Orange Gin After the success, and many awards won for their Brecon Special Reserve Gin, the Penderyn distillery have expanded the range. Their Chocolate Orange Gin uses the Special Reserve as the base, ensuring a quality gin - and enhances with deliciously decadent flavours. UKIYO Japanese Rice Vodka 70cl

UKIYO Japanese Rice Vodka As a celebration of the purity found in Japanese distilling, UKIYO spirits have created their range of spirits. In creating their Vodka, UKIYO take a slightly different approach than with their Gins. As the name would suggest, the process starts with a stable product in Japan; rice. They start with a harvest of long grain indica rice, which has black kōji added to it. This is then fermented, and distilled - which creates a traditional Japanese Awamori spirit. They then redistil this, which creates their pure rice spirit; after a total of three distillations in pot stils the result is their Rice Vodka. Rice for the Japanese is renowned for creating the purest sprits. It's not surprising then that UKIYO Rice Vodka is especially smooth. It has a clean taste, with a subtle sweetness to it. A delicate floral note can be detected, as well as a little citrus. For a japanese twist on the Mule cocktail, try a Tokyo Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 60ml of the vodka and 15ml lime juice.
