Frederic Malle Rose & Cuir - Eau de Parfum
Rose & Cuir is a unisex Eau de Parfum, created by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle and introduced in 2019. This fragrance offers a modern and minimalist interpretation of the classic rose and leather accord. Rose & Cuir does not open with rose, as the name suggests, but with the fresh floral notes of bourbon geranium, enhanced by the fresh-fruity and slightly tingling scent of blackcurrant and timut pepper. As the fragrance develops, earthy woody notes of vetiver and cedar emerge, giving the composition a dry elegance. The leathery base, built around IsoButyl Quinoline, gives the fragrance a bitter-green and lightly smoky depth, without feeling heavy or classically "old leather." In fact, there is no rose in the formula — the combination of notes suggests the scent of rose through an illusion, in typical Jean-Claude Ellena style: transparent, minimalist, yet refined.
