Travel between planetary stacks takes place in turn-based mode, while combat is played in real time with an active pause. We will lose many times, for example, weapons or shields and we will frantically try to repair before we are destroyed by enemies. The game world is randomly generated each time, so we can never be sure whether, after completing the subspace jump, we will land in a friendly planetary system, or we will come across, for example, an armada of pirates. At the same time, with each jump, the mission becomes more dangerous and the enemies grow stronger. In order to survive, it is necessary to acquire new instruments, hire and train the crew, and improve the ship itself. The authors have prepared a lot of special events to make star journeys more attractive. For example, we may be forced to help a space station whose inhabitants have fallen victim to a mysterious virus, encounter slave traders or hit the very center of an unexplored asteroid field. The key element of the game is crew management. Each of its members has their own name and characteristics. Over time, he will gain experience and increase his skills. At the same time, however, each death is final, without the possibility of resurrecting the fallen, and since the FTL world is not one of the safest places, one has to accept the prospect of losing faithful subordinates.
