Escape from Monkey Island is the fourth part of the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood, a young pirate who won the hearts of several million adventurers around the world. This time Guybrush wanders not only the previously visited islands of Melee and Monkey, but also new, unknown areas such as Jambalaya and Lucre. Along the way, he has to solve many easier and more difficult puzzles, meeting with various characters from the game, including those known from previous games, such as Charles L. Charles, Ozzie Mandrill, Murray, Stan or the Mojo witch, with whom he duel with words.
The game is made on the improved engin "Grim Fandango", thanks to which the characters move in a three-dimensional world on a rendered background. The story of Escape from Monkey Island begins when, after finally defeating the hellish spirit of pirate LeChuck in Curse of Monkey Island, the protagonist embarks on a honeymoon with the beautiful lady governor Elaine Marley-Threepwood. Upon his return, it turns out that Guybrush's chosen one was presumed dead. LeChuck, who wants to take the governor's seat, is responsible for all the confusion.
