Universe Sandbox is a program that allows you to track phenomena taking place in outer space. Thanks to the precise depiction of the effects of gravity as well as the location and parameters of individual objects, we can trigger huge changes that will determine the fate of the Universe with a few clicks of the mouse. The title has no specific goals. It is up to the user's creativity to determine what effect it will produce.
Over 70 different simulations have been introduced in production. There are a total of 70 galaxies, 1000 stars and countless asteroids. We can compare the sizes of the largest known stars or observe the moons forming a new planet as a result of a collision, a reconstruction of space probe missions or a collision between the Milky Way and Andromeda. During the simulation, the user decides on the speed of time, manipulates the force of gravity, modifies the mass of objects and adds new ones.
In addition to the event examples prepared by the creators, an editor is also available, which allows you to create your own scenarios. Thanks to this, this production is also a very good tool for people dealing with astrophysics.
The graphics of Universe Sandbox harmonize with the high level of realism of the game. We can use additional filters, depending on the current needs, e.g. to observe certain phenomena, it is useful to change the color of celestial bodies depending on the speed of movement of a given object or its temperature. We freely control the angle of the camera and the level of zoom. The production does not have a musical setting, so during the game the user is accompanied by silence characteristic of outer space.
