Connemara - Tim Robinson - Bog - Penguin Books Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Connemara - Tim Robinson - Bog - Penguin Books Ltd - Plusbog.dk

The second volume in Tim Robinson''s phenomenal Connemara Trilogy - which Robert Macfarlane has called ''One of the most remarkable non-fiction projects undertaken in English'' . The first volume of Tim Robinson''s Connemara trilogy, Listening to the Wind , covered Robinson''s home territory of Roundstone and environs. The Last Pool of Darkness moves into wilder territory: the fjords, cliffs, hills and islands of north-west Connemara, a place that Wittgenstein, who lived on his own in a cottage there for a time, called ''the last pool of darkness in Europe''. Again combining his polymathic knowledge of Connemara''s natural history, human history, folklore and topography with his own unsurpassable artistry as a writer, Tim Robinson has produced another classic.A native of Yorkshire, Tim Robinson moved to the Aran Islands in 1972. His books include the celebrated two-volume Stones of Aran . Since 1984 he has lived in Roundstone, Connemara. ''The Proust & Ruskin of modern place-writing, deep-mapper of Irish landscapes, visionary thinker, and human of exceptional intellectual generosity & kindness. He was an immense inspiration to & encourager of me & my work'' Robert Macfarlane ''A masterpiece of travel and topographical writing and a miraculous, vivid and engrossing meditation on landscape and history and the sacred mood of places'' Colm Tóibín , Irish Times ''One of the greatest writers of lands ... No one has disentangled the tales the stones of Ireland have to tell so deftly and retold them so beautifully'' Fintan O''Toole

Thulesingulariteten - Torben Magnild Husum - Bog - Forlaget mellemgaard - Plusbog.dk

Thulesingulariteten - Torben Magnild Husum - Bog - Forlaget mellemgaard - Plusbog.dk

Toward More Sustainable Metaphors of Writing Program Administration - Patti Poblete - Bog - University Press of Colorado - Plusbog.dk

Toward More Sustainable Metaphors of Writing Program Administration - Patti Poblete - Bog - University Press of Colorado - Plusbog.dk

The field of writing program administration has long been a space rich in metaphor. From plate-twirling to fire-extinguishing, parents to dungeon masters, and much more, the work of a WPA extends to horizons unknown. Responding to the constraints of austerity, Toward More Sustainable Metaphors of Writing Program Administration offers new lenses for established WPAs and provides aspiring and early career WPAs with a sense of the range of responsibilities and opportunities in their academic and professional spaces. This volume presents twelve chapters that reclaim and revise established metaphors; offer new metaphors based on sustainable, relational, or emotional labor practices and phenomena; and reveal the improvisational, artisanal nature of WPA work. Chapters resonate across three sections. The first section focuses on organic relationships captured in phrases like “putting out fires” and "seeing forests for the trees” alongside unexpected comparisons to ground and light. The second describes institutional landscapes featuring generative juxtapositions such as the WPA as a labor activist or a mapper of emotional geography. And the third discusses performance crafts like improv comedy and artisanal making. Toward More Sustainable Metaphors of Writing Program Administration offers new and revised ways of thinking and acting for WPAs, who are constantly negotiating the paradoxical demands of their work and continually striving to act ethically in conflicted, and even fraught, situations. It will inspire practicing, aspiring, and former WPAs working in a time of transformation by highlighting more sustainable ways of enacting WPA identity. Nemesis - Chris Carter - Bog - Jentas A/S - Plusbog.dk

Nemesis - Chris Carter - Bog - Jentas A/S - Plusbog.dk

Du finder hele Robert Hunter-serien her: 1. Krucifiks-morderen 2. Bødlen 3. Stalkeren 4. Dødens kunstner 5. Dødsshowet 6. Ondskab 7. Jeg er døden 8. Mordoffer 9.

Practical Entity Framework Core 6 - Brian L. Gorman - Bog - APress - Plusbog.dk

Practical Entity Framework Core 6 - Brian L. Gorman - Bog - APress - Plusbog.dk

Take a developer journey that paves the way to enterprise-level database access from .NET and C# using the object-relational mapper (ORM) of choice. This second edition is revised to cover Entity Framework Core 5 and 6 (EF) and includes new content on table-per-type mapping, LINQ improvements (filtered includes), many-to-many navigation changes, split queries, simple logging using the DBCommandInterceptor, and other improvements available in EF Core 6. Real-world examples and considerations are presented in this book to help you create robust and efficient database solutions. Throughout the text, actual problems, questions, and common pitfalls are provided to help you recognize optimal solutions for maximum success in the different application scenarios you might encounter. Practical Entity Framework Core 6 focuses on the code first approach to developing a database. Taking the code first approach allows the entire database to be built and maintained in code using EF Core 6 so there is never a situation in which you cannot restore the database schema. Additionally, the code first approach creates an entirely transparent record of changes to the database that is easily tracked in source control systems such as GitHub. Emphasis throughout the book is on leaving you well positioned to architect and lead data development efforts for your organization. What You Will Learn - Build robust and maintainable databases using a code first approach - Create and execute stored procedures, triggers, and functions - Analyze and optimize performance of database queries - Ensure data integrity through keys, constraints, and relationships - Encrypt your database columns at rest with TDE and Always-On Encryption - Leverage the FluentAPI and attributes for entity configuration Who This Book Is For .NET developers who work with enterprise-level applications and need to interact with data structures and data within the back end data store, developers who want to take a code first approach to building database applications to prevent conflicts and optimize efficiency, and those who are moving into full-stack roles, or into senior and architectural roles, and will be responsible for database design and implementation

T he triumphant conclusion to Tim Robinson''s extraordinary Connemara trilogy, which Robert Macfarlane has called ''one of the most remarkable non-fiction projects undertaken in English''. Robinson writes about the people, places and history of south Connemara - one of Ireland''s last Gaelic-speaking enclaves - with the encyclopaedic knowledge of a cartographer and the grace of a born writer. Tak for sidst - Erik Hauervig - Bog - Forlaget mellemgaard - Plusbog.dk

Tak for sidst - Erik Hauervig - Bog - Forlaget mellemgaard - Plusbog.dk

The Deepest Map - Laura Trethewey - Bog - HarperCollins Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

The Deepest Map - Laura Trethewey - Bog - HarperCollins Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

A SCIENCE NEWS MAGAZINE BEST BOOK OF 2023 A GLOBE AND MAIL BEST NONFICTION BOOK OF 2023 “Should be required reading. . . . A gripping and all-too-timely account of what in more ways than one is turning out to be a very costly and questionably necessary race to the bottom. . . . Trethewey rises to the occasion here, relating in absorbing detail the ebb and flow of conflicting interests that tussle down among the vents and ridges of the hadal zone. It is all highly readable, and it is all deeply ominous.” —Simon Winchester, New York Times Book Review The dramatic and action-packed story of the last mysterious place on earth—the world’s seafloor—and the deep-sea divers, ocean mappers, marine biologists, entrepreneurs, and adventurers involved in the historic push to chart it, as well as the opportunities, challenges, and perils this exploration holds now and for the future. Five oceans—the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Indian, the Arctic, and the Southern—cover approximately 70 percent of the earth. Yet we know little about what lies beneath them. By the early 2020s, less than twenty-five percent of the ocean’s floor has been charted, most close to shorelines, and over three quarters of the ocean lies in in what is called the Deep Sea, depths below a thousand meters. Now, the race is on to completely map the ocean’s floor by 2030—an epic project involving scientists, investors, militaries, and private explorers who are cooperating and competing to get an accurate reading of this vast terrain and understand its contours and environment. In The Deepest Map , Laura Trethewey documents this race to the bottom, following global efforts around the world, from crowdsourcing to advances in technology, recent scientific discoveries to tales of dangerous dives in untested and costly submersibles. The lure of ocean exploration has attracted many, including the likes of James Cameron, Richard Branson, Ray Dalio, and Eric Schmidt. The Deepest Map follows a cast of intriguing characters, from early mappers such as Marie Tharp, a woman working in the male-dominated fields of oceanography and geology whose discoveries have added significantly to our knowledge; Victor Vescovo, a man obsessed with reaching the deepest depths of each of the five oceans, and his young, brilliant, and fearless mapper Cassie Bongiovanni; and the diverse entrepreneurs looking to explore and exploit this uncharted territory and its resources. In The Deepest Map , ocean discovery converges with humanity''s origin story; in mapping the ocean floor, scientists are actively tracing our roots back to the most inhospitable places on earth where life began—and flourished. But for every conservationist looking to protect the seafloor, there are others who see its commercial potential. Will a new map exacerbate pollution and the degradation of this natural resource? How will the race remake political power structures in years to come? Trethewey probes these questions as countries and conglomerates wrestle over the riches that may lie at the bottom of the sea. The future of humanity depends on our ability to protect this vast, precious, and often ignored resource. A true tale of science, nature, technology, and an extreme outdoor adventure The Deepest Map illuminates why we love—and fear—the earth’s final frontier and is a crucial addition to the increasingly urgent conversation about climate change.
