Praetorians is another production of the Spanish team Pyro Studios, known for the excellent series of tactical and strategic games Commandos. The game takes us back to the times of the Roman Empire, and its gameplay focuses primarily on the fight and the atmosphere of many war campaigns in the times of Caesar's Legions. We can choose from three sides of the conflict, Romans, Gauls or Egyptians, and test our skills in three great campaigns (one inside the Roman Empire, another in Central Europe, and finally in Egypt). In total, this gives over 20 extensive missions. Each side of the conflict is different. The Romans are primarily disciplined, well-armed units that use sophisticated combat formations and impressive war machines in combat. The Gauls are fearless warriors with very high mobility and high morale. Gameplay The basic elements of the game are proper management of the available military resources, tactics and the ability to use the possessed or acquired combat equipment. In each of the fights we have a limited number of units, which forces us to develop an appropriate strategy that guarantees the lowest possible losses. During battle, troops can be arranged into various formations, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Some types of troops may use special formations in combat against specific enemy units. Each unit has been realistically recreated including weapons and gear. We have about ten different types of troops at our disposal, such as archers, pikemen and praetorians. All types of units have different abilities and skills. Tropico 5 is the next installment of a series of economic strategies in which the player acts as the leader of the banana republic. Like the two previous parts, the "five" was created by Haemimont Games studio. According to the tradition of the series, Tropico 5 allows the player to take on the role of the leader of a small country located on the island. His task is to lead his subordinate nation from colonial times, through the turbulent 20th century, to the present day and the near future. In the meantime, you have to survive both world wars, the great economic crisis and the cold war. Each era presents its own challenges and unique opportunities. The core of the game remains unchanged compared to its predecessors - as El Presidente, the player tries to maintain the position of the nation's leader. His duties include, among others developing the city, taking care of industry and economy, counteracting the effects of natural disasters, responding to the needs of the people and the demands of political factions (not necessarily in a democratic manner), fighting the opposition and maintaining diplomatic relations with neighbors. In addition, there is an extensive trading system (including sea trade), trees for technological and scientific development, and exploration. Early in the game, it's a good idea to send explorers deep into the island in search of new minerals and deposits. However, they must be wary of wild animals and hostile natives. A novelty in the game is the ability to create your own dynasty. Members of the ruling family can become not only leaders but also managers of many enterprises and factories on the island. Over time, they gain experience and cope with their duties better and better. Of course, having your people in key positions is extremely helpful in staying in power. The appearance of the cities in Tropico 5 changes as you progress along the timeline. The creators have tried to authentically reflect the changing realities, and each era has different-looking buildings.
