RCM3: Risk-Based Reliability Centered Maintenance - Marius Basson - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

RCM3: Risk-Based Reliability Centered Maintenance - Marius Basson - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

The popular RCMII methodology has been around since the late ’90s, but it was what professionals call a consequence-based approach. This work represents a revision to that bestselling work, by John Moubray, with more modern thinking, an emphasis on a risk-based methodology, and alignment with International ISO standards (55000 and 31000). The result is a more holistic, integrated, and rigorous way for developing asset care and risk-mitigating strategies for physical assets. Since the release of the ISO 31000 and ISO 55000 Standards for Risk Management and Asset Management respectively, Aladon developed RCM3, a risk-based RCM methodology that places managing the risk and reliability of physical assets mainstream with other business management systems in an organization. RCM3 fully complies and exceeds the requirements of the SAEJA 1011 Standard and fully aligns with the frameworks of the ISO Standards. The new risk-based focus of RCM3 features the following principles: • The proactive management of physical and economic risks. • Updated approach for testing and managing of protective systems. • Based on the requirements of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) and its challenges. • Covers new expectations and new maintenance techniques for fourth-generation maintenance. • Places reliability & risk management mainstream with organizational objectives and management systems. • Aligned and integrated with International ISO Standards for Physical Asset Management and Risk Management (ISO 55000 & ISO 31000). • Now part of an integrated asset strategy for full life-cycle management of physical assets.

Asset Management Insights - Celso De Azevedo - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Asset Management Insights - Celso De Azevedo - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Uniquely organized, Asset Management Insights follows the life cycle of industrial assets and infrastructures. Indeed, one of the fundamental points of the definition of asset management is its management perspective covering the entire life cycle of assets rather than specific segments such as maintenance. It reviews the thematic components of asset management both from a conceptual point of view (originality, approaches, methods, tools) and from the point of view of its practical application (conditions to be met, recurrent difficulties, and organizational constraints). Most other titles on asset management tend to describe the practice and related ISO standards in a rather clinical manner. In contrast, this work focuses on concrete situations experienced by those who have implemented the concepts, discusses how, and when and WHY they failed, and how they adapted their practices in order to succeed. Features - Packed with stories from professionals and companies that highlight aspects of different functions, tools and elements of asset management from a variety of different industries, including infrastructure (water, energy, transportation), public service (post offices, hospitals), manufacturers, public, and private companies. - Guides readers to explore the essential actions to be undertaken, and the major pitfalls to avoid. - Organized in parts and chapters that address individual topics of asset management according to the sequence of life cycle segments of any asset belonging to an infrastructure or industry. This allows the reader to follow asset-related questions throughout their lives or to choose to study specific life segments (chapters).

You will be surprised how he did that while also expanding on his existing ‘Plant Wellness Way’ methodology in just 286 pages! I also like how he emphasized throughout the book, attention to life cycle cost. Something that has been lacking in our industry. A must-read in today’s world.” —Don Fitchett, Business Industrial Network (BIN95.com) "Mike Sondalini''s new book Industrial and Manufacturing Wellness is one of the best in our field that I have seen." —Len Bradshaw, Editor of Asset Management and Maintenance Journal (AMMJ)

The Productive Leadership System - Thomas J. Moriarity - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

The Productive Leadership System - Thomas J. Moriarity - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Typical leadership training never seems to ‘move the needle’ in terms of creating more effective leaders. That’s because the system that supports leadership hasn’t changed. To get true improvement in leadership, organizations need to focus on accountability. There must be an asset management system that defines and assigns accountability. Then individual leaders can learn and apply productive leadership. The author has coined and trademarked the Productive Leadership™ System (PLS) which includes: *A Productive Leadership Policy*The Organizational Reliability Model™ (ORM) *The Productive Leadership Model™ (PLM)*A Productive Leadership Development Program The ORM overtly defines and assigns accountability across each leadership level. The PLM identifies the leadership roles, attributes, skills, sources of power and other aspects that productive leaders must master. The development program creates a leadership pipeline for professional development of current leaders and prospective leaders, and on-boarding the right people for leadership positions. The author includes a chapter on the human brain to show that leaders and followers are capable of learning throughout their lives, and the science behind creating habits and cultures. The book has several tools and exercises to help reinforce important concepts. Appendices include details on the Team Effectiveness and Motivation Survey (used in the 2015 Alidade MER/Plant Services Magazine Leadership Survey), an ISO 55000 overview and the Guidance and Execution Model™, an example for developing processes and procedures. Features Recommendations for a full Productive Leadership Development Program and training, including: - Characteristics of individual leaders: The desire to be responsible and having a personal mission, vision, and values that align with the leadership position. - Leadership roles: Expert/technician, manager/administrator, coach, systems thinker, and visionary. - Leadership attributes: Consistent, attentive, respectful, motivational, and assertive. - Leadership skills: Time management, communication, empowerment, giving and receiving feedback, and conflict management. Reviews Makes the complex subject of leadership easier to understand and pursue “Tom Moriarty has taken the complex subject of leadership and made it easier to understand and pursue by creating a system that can be followed by anyone who desires to be a leader. From the very beginning of this book, he gives practical examples to drive the points home including defining leadership as — identifying and solving the right problem. (That is in my opinion the essence of leadership.) As part of the ‘Leadership System’, he demonstrates how very complicated processes are broken down into easy to understand directions for implementation. The Productive Leadership System addresses the importance of accountability at all levels along with leadership standards, leadership development, and leadership sustainment through various models that are well described. Recognizing the importance of repetition, to move short-term memory to long-term memory, is key to creating habits essential in leading to the creation of a culture of reliability and empowerment of the workforce. Tom’s personal mission statement, ‘helping others to lead full and satisfying lives’ is certainly achieved in this book by facilitating those people desiring to advance their own leadership and encourage it in others. I highly recommend this book and consider it to be an essential framework for developing and demonstrating leadership.” —Winston P. Ledet Not your average leadership book “I have had the opportunity to read a lot of ‘leadership’ books and have enjoyed the personal stories of the authors, but rarely left with any lessons. When I first picked up The Productive Leadership System , I was expecting to read another story of Tom’s experiences in the U.S. Coast Guard. I was pleasantly surprised. The book is a solid set of leadership means and methods with lessons. While focused on organizational reliability leadership, the lessons and processes go well beyond and into the how’s and why’s people both lead and follow, and a solid definition of the concepts behind leadership. In whatever position you are in, from not-for-profit, small business, manufacturing, to commercial, or any position that requires a solid, easily read, and straightforward text on leadership, I highly recommend this book.” —Howard W. Penrose, Ph.D., CMRP, past chair Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals Leadership insight for supervisors and CEOs “This book is filled with practical tips on improving and refreshing your leadership techniques and skills. It is clear the author is passionate about leadership. He has built upon the foundation of leadership lessons learned in his USCG carer with lessons learned from assessing industry and years of studying effective

Spare Parts Inventory Management - Phillip Slater - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Spare Parts Inventory Management - Phillip Slater - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

No previous works have focused on the topic of inventory reduction and optimization to the extent that this one does. Spare Parts Inventory Management: A Complete Guide to Sparesology™ by Philip Slater covers the whole part’s life cycle, from initial purchase to final disposal, and addresses issues throughout, including maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO). The author, Phillip Slater, was described in a recent podcast as “truly one of the leaders in the MRO information segment.” Sparesology is a term coined by Slater to describe the discipline of optimizing the physical, financial, and human resource management processes of spare parts inventory management. Sparesology is much more than just inventory optimization. It involves an understanding of the complete “ecosystem,” within which the spare parts inventory is managed, and seeks to ensure that all of the factors influencing this management work together to achieve an organization’s goals. “ Spare Parts Inventory Management: A Complete Guide to Sparesology® combines content you might find in several different texts into a well-organized and easy to use reference. This is a fantastic guide for anyone interested in having a successful spare parts inventory management system. Reviews Right from the beginning, I knew this would be a good read. Every aspect of spare parts management, cradle-to-grave is addressed. Innovative concepts, such as inventory ''prevention'' and ''timing,'' are introduced, and matrices translate complex concepts into easily understood visual references. To clear the path for success, the author starts the journey by identifying potential landmines that can sink a spare parts inventory management system at its onset. I found the section, ''Five common supply chain techniques that you should not use for spare parts management'' particularly insightful. A useful discussion addresses perceptions of the financial impact of spare parts. It explores the delicate balance of the key players and their own ''silo'' perspectives and agendas, and helps the reader understand the ever-ongoing battle between the thought that spare parts ''cost money'' and the idea that downtime is a deadly cost that must be avoided. Examples and simple calculations provide some great guidelines for decision making. As a bonus, the difference between policies and procedures, as well as valuable and specific guidelines for writing both, are included. This easy to read guide to understanding the human factors (trust) offers no-nonsense techniques for applying data-based decision making in the establishment of a robust spare parts inventory management system. It combines content you might find in several different texts into a well-organized and easy to use reference that deals with everything from clean sheet design of a system to best practices and continual improvement for mature systems. Spare Parts Inventory Management: A Complete Guide to Sparesology® is a fantastic guide for anyone interested in having a successful spare parts inventory management system." — Marnie Schmidt, Author of Tribal Knowledge: The Practical Use of ISO, Lean and Six Sigma Together. www.marnieschmidt.com “It’s like Phillip is coaching you one-on-one. He addresses the full life cycle of spares, clearly shows the unique nature of spare parts management, and provides practical guidance on critical policies and best practices. Spare Parts Inventory Management: A Complete Guide to Sparesology® belongs on the shelf of every spare parts organization . I definitely would recommend it to my clients and students. Phillip Slater’s latest book continues his unique and engaging writing style. He draws on his decades of experience in spare parts management and delivers a book that is pleasantly conversational, as if I am sitting across the table from him, and he is coaching me one-on-one. This book is also unique as it addresses the full life cycle of spares, from initial requirements forecasting through to use and final disposal. The author clearly shows the unique nature of spare parts management versus other types of inventory — distinctions that require different considerations in planning and control. In easy to understand terms, he dispels the myths associated with spares and provides practical guidance on critical spare parts policies and best practices that favorably impact the bottom line. Spare Parts Inventory Management: A Complete Guide to Sparesology® is practitioner oriented and belongs on the shelf in every spare parts organization. I definitely would recommend it to my clients and students." — Dr. A. Patricia Murrin , A.P.
