Sechs Klanginseln
The Six sound islands were composed for a concert programme entitled ‘Reigen’ (round dance) that the composer curated, and were intended to provide an atmospheric bridge between dances by Ligeti, Bartók, Veress, Schoenberg andSchubert. The influence of these composers and their dance music repeatedly shimmers through in these Six sound islands. However, this work can also be performed autonomously as a double concerto for violin, clarinet and stringorchestra, with its individual movements played either successively or ‘interwoven’ with any other works on the concert programme.
