In Narcosis we play the role of a professional diver, dressed in a heavy suit used for descending to great depths. When he was working for an underwater laboratory, an accident occurred, as a result of which the hero was abandoned on the bottom of the ocean and forced to find a way to survive before his oxygen exhaustion.Released on PC, PS4 and XONE Narcosis is a survival horror action adventure game. While playing, we explore locations, fight enemies and solve occasional logic puzzles. We observe the events from a first-person perspective, and the whole thing is characterized by a claustrophobic atmosphere.The fact that we spend the entire game in a heavy depth suit, which the developers call a "walking coffin", plays a key role in this. The key element of the game is oxygen supply management. The rate of its wear is increased by, among others physical exertion, stress related to injuries or entering places with higher water pressure. When we run out of oxygen, the brain stops functioning properly, and the hallucinations caused by it make it very difficult to navigate in the environment and stay alive.While playing, we use several items, such as flares, flashlights and a knife. The latter is especially useful against aggressive animals. The authors decided not to include any fantastic monsters in their game, because the sea fauna seemed scary enough to them.
