Design: Mathieu Matégot For Gubi Concept: The Tropique collection of chairs for outdoor use is the perfect addition to your garden, patio or terrace. The dining chair from GUBI has a stainless steel frame and upholstery that can be used outdoors and bring the home's luxury and comfort outside as an extension of the home's interior design. The series, which consists of the Tropique dining chair in different colors, with and without fringes, was designed by the Hungarian-born designer Mathieu Matégot. With his post-war designs, he captures the timeless glamor and exotic luxury of the outdoor lifestyle of the French Riviera in the mid-20th century. Mathieu Matégot (1910 - 2001) was an independent and self-taught Hungarian designer, architect and artist. He lived most of his life in his beloved Paris where he settled in 1931, after graduating from the Hungarian University of Art and Design in Budapest. In 1939, Matégot volunteered for the Fan army, but was captured in Germany until he escaped in 1944. The wartime played an important career role for Martégot, as he became familiar with the innovative material and technique that characterizes Rigitulle today his style.
